Business planner and a financial modelling consultant

Gerrit has been working in a multicultural & multinational environment for the majority of his career. Qualified actuary through the Institute of Actuaries in London and have extensive experience working with Executive Committee members, Board Members and Shareholders; assisting them in defining strategy based on detailed data analysis and predictive financial models.

He has 20 years of broad financial modelling experience spanning across the full business planning cycle, from initial financial assessment, pricing strategies, business sensitivity analysis, valuations, funding structures to investor negotiation modelling. He has worked with most of the large consultancy and banking groups across the globe, working across multiple industries in over 20 countries and territories spanning Africa, Middle East, Russia, UK and Canada.


Career highlights:

2007 - Part of the management team raising $480m of funding for a Middle East based Telecommunications operation.

2014 - Independent board member of a R1bn medical fund, chairing the risk and investment committees and serving on the audit committee.

2016 - Optimization modelling for a large public sector telecoms infrastructure client.

2020 - Capital raise for a $550m West African gas pipeline infrastructure project. IPP bid submission and capital raise for a 150MW open gas turbine power plant. Capital raise modelling for a 5MW BioElectricity facility

Gerrit is a  business planner and a financial modelling consultant. Gerrit is responsible for building financial models for new business ventures, developing new start-up companies, and developing business plans. He has worked independently for two years, and has worked with Pygma on other consulting projects including MVNO financial modelling and regulatory analysis.   Gerrit has a combination of financial analysis and business planning / modelling skills acquired working across a number of sectors (including aviation, ICT, property development, broadcasting & entertainment) with a particular emphasis in ICT on MNOs, MVNOs and mobile applications. He has significant experience in strategic and corporate planning and monitoring and working together with other specialists on large-scale projects.   During the last two years Gerrit focussed on freelance financial modelling for various entities across Africa and the Middle East. His clients span over Telecommunications, Aviation, Property Development, Retail and advertising sectors.

In addition to mobile operation experience, Gerrit gained valuable mobile retail experience while consulting for one of the largest mobile reseller/retailers in South Africa. At Glocell his initial assignment included the financial modelling for a proposed MVNO. In addition to the MVNO modelling, his focus involved scenario and risk modelling for a $120m trading facility with a large investment bank and the existing retail business expansion modelling.

His mobile retail experience also included work for Magic Phone, a Cameroon based retailer expanding into 10 new regions in 2010. In 2010 Gerrit did all the financial modelling for an investor in the process of purchasing buying Star wings in Ghana. He also completed 5 year financial modelling for the purchase of additional aircraft and expansion of local routes. During 2010 Gerrit consulted to a property development group and completed financial models for a proposed project to develop town house developments across 5 countries in Africa.
